Secondary Traumatic Stress: Recognizing and Responding to the Impact

This training is for anyone in the helping profession who would like to increase their knowledge about Secondary Traumatic Stress. This 3 hour training gives an overview of Secondary Traumatic Stress including signs, symptoms, impact, individual and organizational responses to mitigate STS. Participants will learn the difference between STS, Compassion Fatigue, and Burn-out. Participants will be exposed to screening tools to assist in identifying STS. They will learn helpful approaches to address STS for themselves and staff. A focus on the concept of compassion satisfaction is woven throughout the training. Participants will also engage in an expressive arts activity to encourage self-care.
